What people are saying

Parents trust it. Students love it.
Counselors recommend it.

I've been a high school teacher for 18 years and a mom of a junior. I've watched so many families stress over college lists — spending thousands on private counselors or just guessing. CollegeShepherd gave my daughter a personalized list in 15 minutes that was more thoughtful than anything I'd seen. It even flagged the WUE program — we had no idea Washington students could attend schools in Arizona at near in-state rates. That alone saved us $20,000 a year.

As a tax partner I've helped hundreds of families with financial planning — but college costs still catch people off guard. CollegeShepherd is the first tool I've seen that actually shows real net costs by income bracket before a family commits. My son's list included schools we never would have considered, with estimated costs 40% lower than sticker price. The financial transparency alone is worth every penny. I'm recommending this to every client with a high schooler.

I've been a college counselor for 12 years and I was skeptical. But CollegeShepherd genuinely impressed me. The question architecture is thoughtful — it asks about learning style, professor access, and what success actually means to the student. The regional tuition program flagging is something most families never discover on their own. I now recommend it to every junior family as a starting point before our first meeting. It makes my job better, not obsolete.

ok so i did this on a whim and literally screamed when i saw my list. it knew i wanted a big school with a sick campus near the mountains but also actually cared about my major. the fun facts section had me sending screenshots to my entire friend group at midnight. my parents were shook when they saw the actual costs after financial aid — way cheaper than they thought. every junior needs to do this immediately 🎓

A Letter from Our Founder
"I built College Shepherd for one very personal reason: my daughter, Bella."

As a sophomore in high school, Bella had just begun her college search, and like most families, we stepped into the process expecting clarity, guidance, and trustworthy information. Instead, what we found was fragmented, outdated, and often biased. There was no true "one-stop" destination — no place that combined real-time data, meaningful personalization, and a genuinely neutral perspective.

We wanted more than just lists and rankings. We wanted a platform that could deeply understand Bella — her goals, her strengths, her interests — and match her with schools where she would truly thrive.

As a family living in Washington State, we're fortunate to have strong in-state options. But Bella has always been clear about one thing — she wants to go out of state and experience something new. Beyond what we already knew, the other 49 states felt like a complete unknown. College Shepherd was built to remove that uncertainty.

With over 30 years in executive search, I've spent my career focused on precision, speed, and high-level matchmaking — connecting the right people with the right opportunities. That same philosophy is at the heart of College Shepherd. Finding the right college should be approached with the same level of care, accuracy, and personalization.

There are over 4,000 four-year colleges in the United States, and every single one offers something different. Choosing the right one is one of the most significant investments a family will ever make — not just financially, but in terms of personal growth, opportunity, and life direction.

And most importantly — I wanted to build something that leaves no kid behind. For any family that cannot afford the platform, a free access link will be made available through their high school college counselor. Every student deserves access to the tools and insights needed to find the right path forward.

College Shepherd was built for Bella — but it exists for every student ready to take that next step.
